Swain County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27th, due to forecasted extreme cold. This delay will allow for better daylight for all drivers and safer travel conditions. We encourage everyone to dress warmly to ensure safety while waiting for buses or traveling to school.

Due to the likelihood of black ice and freezing temperatures tomorrow morning, Swain County Schools will be closed to students, Monday, January 26th. This will be an optional teacher workday for staff. Thank you.

Swain County Schools is actively monitoring the changing weather forecast for this weekend. Due to the prediction of rain on Sunday, we will make an initial decision regarding school operations on Sunday evening.
However, because temperatures are forecasted to drop Sunday night, we may need to re-evaluate based on conditions Monday morning.
In the unlikely event of a significant weather emergency resulting in widespread power outages, we will utilize every available resource to keep you informed.
Please stay tuned to our Facebook pages, school website, and automated alert system for the latest updates.
Thank you for your patience, and stay safe.
