We cannot say a big enough thank you to so many volunteers that made today a fun success. Darnell Farms for sending pumpkins, 15 Parent Volunteers, 20+ Middle School Students, and 35 parents who sent in supplies or prepped activities!

Part 2 of Farm Day photos! Mr. Sorrell and his students brought pigs and goats for us to meet, Tessa & Teddy brought 2 of their hens, Ms. Natalie's turkeys and ducks came to visit, and Mr. Richie and his two horses, Bob and Millie, walked down the hill for a visit!
Yesterday, Bright Adventures Students experienced FARM DAY - a day full of farm related activities both inside their classrooms and outside! Children pretended to 'milk cows' and 'shear sheep' in their classrooms and met real horses, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, and pigs outside! A HUGE thank you to our community members who took the time to bring animals and share their knowledge of farming with our preschoolers. Hands on learning is always the best! (More pics to come)

Last month these students played Respect Bingo with their families. They practiced different ways of showing respect (holding a door open, using their manners, greeting people, etc) and won prizes! This month we are playing Empathy Bingo!

The lockdown at Swain County High School has been lifted and the perimeter lockdowns at the other locations have also been lifted.
The lockdown occurred at approximately 11:25 am due to a perceived threat by a staff member. Other school locations were placed on a perimeter lockdown as a precaution.
Local law enforcement responded quickly, conducted a search of the area, and determined that there was no threat at 11:59 am. At no time were students in danger.
Thank you to everyone for following the established emergency procedures.
