A special called Board of Education meeting will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Bryson City, NC 28713 for the purpose of discussing planning due to COVID impact on school system. Action may be taken. Appropriate social distancing and mass gathering limits will be observed. The meeting will be broadcast on the school system YouTube link at Maroon Devil Network.

This is to inform you of a special called meeting to be held Thursday, December 17, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Bryson City, NC 28713 for the purpose of public comment. Appropriate social distancing and mass gathering limits will be observed. The meeting will be broadcast on the school system YouTube link at Maroon Devil Network.

Per Board Policy 2310 Each speaker will receive three minutes to present comments; however, the public comment session will not exceed 30 minutes total except by majority vote of the board.  A sign-up sheet will be available 30 minutes before the meeting begins for any individual or group to indicate their desire to address the board.

Swain County Schools will be releasing schools early today, December 7, 2020 due to potential weather. Buses will leave Swain High School at 2:15pm so expect that all bus riding students will be arriving home approximately 45 minutes earlier than normal.

Employees of Swain County Schools, please go to http://moodle.swaincountyschools.com to complete the annual Bloodborne Pathogens training. Check your school email for specific directions.

Due to road conditions, we will not be able to deliver meals by bus tomorrow. Instead, we will be offering a drive thru meal pick up from Swain Middle School tomorrow, Wednesday December 2nd, from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Impact Aid survey forms are being sent home with your student this week. These forms are critical in helping Swain County Schools qualify for Federal Impact Aid Funding, which makes up a large portion of our budget. We ask that these surveys be completed and returned to your child's school by September 30, 2020.

Swain County Schools will operate on a two hour delayed schedule on December 1, 2020 due to weather conditions.

Swain County Schools plan to operate on a 2 hour delayed schedule on Thursday, October 29th. Swain County Schools will evaluate circumstances, including road conditions, flooding and power outages tomorrow morning and inform you if this status changes. Please use caution when traveling in the morning.
