Local Businesses are making connectivity possible for many of our students!

Skywave (https://www.wncskywave.com/) has hooked up several access points throughout the community in order for students to have access to complete online assignments. Zito Media has joined in and hooked up Internet service to the Alarka Fire Department. Zito Media is also offering a special of two months free Internet for low income families. Special Called Board of Education Meeting

The Swain County Board of Education will be holding a special called meeting on Thursday, April 2,2020 in the Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main Street, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Bryson City, NC 28713. The meeting will begin at 5:30. The meeting will be broadcast on Youtube Live at https://youtu.be/7Doo40q_jF0. You can leave public comments or questions using the google form found at https://forms.gle/YjSXHSs8HC7rJCLh9. Appropriate social distancing and mass gathering limits will be observed.

Meal Delivery Form

School bus drivers will be running their regular school routes throughout Swain County tomorrow to deliver meals to children. They will make all regular stops to see if there are children that need meals. All kids will receive the meals for free. If there are other children at the homes the buses stop at, they may receive a meal too (they do not have to be enrolled in Swain County Schools to receive free meals).

The buses will be on routes between 10am and 12pm. The bus driver will stop at each bus stop, blow the horn and wait several minutes to see if someone comes out to pick up meals. Please send adults or older children out if possible to pick up the meals. Meals will still be available at school cafeterias for pick up from 7:20am-2pm.

Important Meal Information!

Swain County Schools cafeterias (excluding the high school) will be open for breakfast and lunch from 7:30am-2pm Mon-Fri for the next 2 weeks while schools are closed. Any child 18 years old or younger is eligible to receive free meals at any of these sites (students do not have to be enrolled in Swain County Schools). Parents or other community members may pick up meals and deliver them to children in the community. We are working on other delivery methods at this time, so stay tuned for further updates.
